    President Harry Truman had large shoes to fill. His great predecessor, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, was a personality of the same caliber as his peers in the Grand Alliance, while Truman was described by some as a “small-bore politician”. Nonetheless, he quickly proved himself to be an honest, direct and forthright man. When he had to take over from the great FDR, he made no attempts to hide how overwhelming his new role felt, but stepped up to the plate anyway - and saw both the Victory in Europe and the victory over the Japanese.
