https://chrisuminga.tumblr.com/The purpose of games was (once upon a time roughly 50.000 years ago), to educate *humans* through a somewhat fun activity. Learning was made fun and even exiting.
Then games became something that required skills, as well as lots of practice; *sports* were born, and much like games they were very entertaining.
Then games became an INDUSTRY, where it was meant to be a money maker, and pretty much ever since then, it has been all about making money. Tabletop games were all the rage, which only later on turned back into learning games, using schools as a targeted group.
That lead to games being about children, and what they wanted to do, but not really...nope, rich old men decided that with the new technology, they would be able to make obscene amounts of money. All they had to do, was just use the Television and the new circuit boards to create something unimaginable; a Handheld electronic gaming interface.
Skip ahead about 40 years and almost everyone has a mobile phone, and most also have at least one computer like thing in the home, both of which you can play games on.
Nowadays the market is SO amazingly flooded with crappy games, it is nearly impossible to tell which games are worth your time anymore. What is MUCH worse, is that instead of making games the way they used to make them, back in the spring of Personal Computers where games were challenging and took many weeks to finish, they are making games more and more "simple" JUST to increase revenue.
You would think that a FREE-TO-PLAY game isn't like that, but ALL games have to make money somehow, so while it may seem as if one game in particular doesn't have Pay-To-Win, it sure does make things a whole lot easier for people who pay.
I sure don't mind if the people who created the game, along with the ones who really worked on it, get rewarded for their time usage, expertise, input, loyalty and steadfastness. What I don't want to support is; a gaming industry that only caters to the highest spending demographic.
