"I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was."

Back when I was a kid, I wanted to be the very best.

It was only now that I realized there was more to this simple sentence.

If only one person can be the best, what about all those countless others?

Countless others who walked where I walked, who felt the pain that I felt, the friendships that I made and the dreams that I chased?

Countless others who can never reach the place that I have.

"Life is a serious battle, and you have to use the tools you're given. It's more important to master the cards you're holding than to complain about the ones your opponent was dealt. "

I'm not the very best.

There are countless others who are better than me, countless others who raised their pokemon to higher levels, countless others who bred their pokemon over and over until they have perfect IVs and trained their pokemon to be the best that they can be.

But I won't hesitate to challenge them.

Because I believe in my pokemon.

Because every move we made, every opponent we faced...

We gave it our best.

We travelled from the highest mountains to the depths of the sea...

We saw sights that could never happen out here in the real world...

We met so many wonderful people...

And we battled them with all of our might.

The feeling in your chest when you're down to your last pokemon, when you try to predict your opponent's next move, when your pokemon are giving it their all...

When the enemy misses or when you land that lucky crit...

The excitement I feel, I know I can't be the only one who feels this way.

It makes me so happy to see my pokemon grow, to see them give their all for me.

To feel myself grow as a person.

To be the very best means to be the best that you can be.

No one can ever be the best that YOU can be.

Even when the odds are hopelessly against you, give the battle everything you have!

This isn't just your fight.

Make every single turn count.

That is what it means to be a trainer.

You must never back down from a battle, no matter how many times you've been knocked down.

That is the only way you'll know how far you've come.

So put on those running shoes! Start writing that novel! Ask that cute girl out!

Just listen to the red hot fire burning in your chest, and put on that winning smile...

Get out there and start your adventure!

And never, ever ride your bike indoors.
